Well, to say we are a little bit excited here at Festival HQ would be something of an understatement… OK, who are we kidding – it would be a massive great big whopper of an understatement!! It is the final countdown after all! And after months of planning and plotting, Worcester Festival 2016 is finally almost here!
With just a few days to go – eek! – Festival t-shirts have been dug out and donned, brochures have been bundled, balloons have been blown up, and Percy the Festival Peacock… well, he’s busy preening himself ready for the cameras – loves striking a pose for a pic that Percy!
So, we’re ready… ready for it all to kick off this Saturday! Yes, THIS SATURDAY!!! And the first weekend is set to be a corker! As always, the fabulous Gugge 2000 will be getting things underway with a bang-of-the-drum on the High Street (if you’ve never seen them before, you are in for a treat – safe to say it wouldn’t be the Worcester Festival without them! Even the Mayor will be coming along to open the show and get in on the Gugge action!) We’ll be going quackers at the St Richard’s Hospice Duck Race down by the river (sorry – couldn’t resist!), there’ll be free Face Painting and Butterfly Puppet Theatre – both sure-fire family favourites, we’ve got taster dance classes on at the Swan Theatre for those fancying adding a bit of Strictly-style sparkle to their weekend, and the incredible Worcester Show returns to Gheluvelt Park as part of this year’s Festival on Sunday. We did tell you it was going to be a corker! And that’s just for starters… full event listings here, plus more on the mains and desserts to come!
We really hope you all have a fabulous first weekend. Don’t forget to share your pics with us on Facebook and Twitter – use #WorcesterFestival and we’ll like and share wherever we can! Can’t wait to see you all Worcester Festivalling! 😀
