Wow Worcester! What a festival it’s been so far! But it’s not over yet… the final weekend promises to be a massive one! There’s no point in beating about the bush, so I might as well get stuck straight in…
On Saturday, the High Street is the hot spot! First up, some free, quality entertainment in the form of The Melton Mowbray Toy Soldiers Band, who will be parading down the High Street and stopping outside the Guidhall at 11am, 1pm and 3pm… They’re a fantastic award-winning marching band that will have you dancing in the street!
And a special treat for their 1 o’clock slot… they will have all the characters from Cinderella in tow! That’s right! It’s the Swan Theatre Panto Launch! See the cast of the magical panto in all their fab costumes, come and say hello, and get a special gold panto balloon! Prince Charming, Dandini and Baron Hardup will all be there, plus the beautiful Cinderella! Get ready to boo and hiss at Delores and Beatrix (the world’s ugliest of sisters) and experience some proper panto magic with everybody’s favourite Dame on hand to entertain – the fabulous Dame Ginny… I mean Fairy Godmother… (you can call her Fairy G!).
And so to the bank holiday Sunday… and what better way to spend it than at the Swan Theatre’s much-loved traditional summer fête? As always, there will be table top sales where there are some real bargains to be had on all sorts of goodies and nick nacks. The WI’s famous cake stall is always a huge pull! Everyone loves the vast and colourful array of delicious cakes and bakes that they put on each year, and if you fancy a cuppa with your cake, (or maybe a cheeky bank holiday beer) the bar will be open! There will be lots of fun and games, including guess the name of the bear, and films will be showing in the auditorium throughout the day – all in all, a cracking day out!
And as if that isn’t enough excitement for one weekend… the St Richard’s Hospice Fireworks are going off at 10pm on Monday at South Quay! There’s entertainment and food from 8pm over at Fort Royal Park (there will be a fabulous Samba band playing) and the brilliant Sauce City Jazz Band will be providing entertainment up to the display down on South Quay. And if you’re not quite ready to call it a night once the firework dust has settled, then you can dance the night away to the Youthcomm radio bus!
