REALTIME INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The 9th edition of the Realtime International Film Festival (RTF) is underway, an independent film festival that attracts filmmakers globally, fostering a platform for artistic expression and collaboration.
Last year’s event was held in Kent, and this year it has moved to Worcester. Our attendees primarily consist of young and emerging filmmakers, but we also present works by established filmmakers who have been recognized at renowned festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, among others.
Additionally, we feature outstanding films that have received accolades at the Oscars and the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
The festival acts as a bridge between movie enthusiasts and the entertainment industry, particularly focusing on participants from Africa and the Caribbean. From August 23rd to 25th, 2024, we will welcome over 70 international filmmakers, showcasing 124 films at the Swan Theatre in Worcester, from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm each day.
We anticipate adding more venues soon, including the Studio at The Hive.

Our festival is not only exciting and enjoyable but also includes the unique 20-hour filmmaking challenge, which is open to everyone above 6 years old!

Now, can you take up the challenge to create a short film lasting anywhere from 3 to 20 minutes in just 20 hours? If your answer is yes, then you need to register to participate in our Realtime Filmmaking Challenge and compete in the 20-hour film contest. It’s open to participants aged 6 and above, catering to amateurs, novices, and experienced filmmakers alike, with no entry fee, and a chance to win an elegant trophy!
The grand finale on August 25, 2024, at Worcester’s SWAN Theatre, will showcase the finest films made during the 20-hour filmmaking challenge. Participants of the challenge will receive trophies, medals, and certificates in a red-carpet event, while established nominee filmmakers will be honored with awards in various categories during the ceremony. Choose any of the following days to participate in the Realtime Filmmaking Challenge:

August 19th, 2024 (10:00 AM) – August 20th, 2024 (6:00 AM)
Themes for your short film will be provided at 10:00 PM on August 18th. Submit the completed short film by 6:30 AM to qualify.

August 20th, 2024 (10:00 AM) – August 21st, 2024 (6:00 AM)
Themes will be given at 10:00 PM on August 19th. Final submissions must be in by 6:30 AM to qualify.

August 21st, 2024 (10:00 AM) – August 22nd, 2024 (6:00 AM)
Receive your film themes at 10:00 PM on August 20th. Ensure your short film is submitted before 6:30 AM to qualify.

August 22nd, 2024 (10:00 AM) – August 23rd, 2024 (6:00 AM)
Themes will be available at 10:00 PM on August 21st. Completed films must be submitted by 6:30 AM to qualify.

August 23rd, 2024 (10:00 AM) – August 24th, 2024 (6:00 AM)
Get your film themes at 10:00 PM on August 22nd. Submit the finished film before 6:30 AM to qualify.

August 24th, 2024 (10:00 AM) – August 25th, 2024 (6:00 AM)
Themes will be provided at 10:00 PM on August 23rd. The final short film submission deadline is 6:30 AM to qualify.

Participants can enter the challenge multiple times or on various days, provided they begin and conclude at the specified times.
