Swan Theatre Amateur Company presents Shakers Re-stirred by John Godber & Jane Thornton (Amateur Hirer)

Shakers Re-stirred is an adult, witty comedy. It gives us a wickedly funny glimpse of the four long-suffering waitresses of Shakers cocktail bar, the newest, shiniest, trendiest cocktail bar in town. Rushed off their feet, underpaid and overworked, they try to smile and help the difficult customers whilst coping with their own personal problems. The ludicrously-named drinks are served by these waitresses and the establishment is patronised by a range of colourful characters, all of which are portrayed by four young actresses. They portray astutely observed male chauvinist pigs, as well as slobs, yobs and yuppies, with unerring accuracy. The audience has a glimpse of the lives of these often beleaguered girls with hopes and dreams and sometimes humdrum lives.

This version of the play was first performed by Hull Truck in 1991.
